The venter is committed to helping groups, families and individuals develop to their full potential through direct service, educational and social action programs.

Services:

Programs include: child care, possible material/financial assistance to homeless families, food pantry (DMARC), and clothing pantry. Programs also include educational classes (GED and ABE classes, senior citizen group, meals, and Christmas Sharing). Also provides GED Program and child care program.

Bidwell Riverside operates a Des Moines Area Religious Council (DMARC) food panty. People seeking assistance can visit one of the DMARC food pantries to receive a three-day supply of food once per month. Pantry open hours vary. Please visit dmarcunited.org/food/pantry-locations for the most up-to-date schedules.

Bidwell Riverside has additional daily food items available. Bidwell Riverside also provides clothing, bedding, and household items.

Intake Process:

Provide a photo ID for the head of household and other identification for every member of the family. Some pantries may request a current piece of mail which includes your name and primary address.

The DMARC Food Pantry Network offers a food pantry delivery service in the Greater Des Moines area. If a person is unable to obtain food by either visiting a food pantry location or by using a proxy to pick up food for them, they may call to request a delivery. DMARC asks that only those with health, transportation, or other mitigating circumstances use this service. Call 1-833-DMARC-20 (1-833-362-7220) toll-free to request a delivery between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon, Monday – Friday. Requests for delivery are taken on a first-come first-serve basis.Food will be delivered to the person’s doorstep with a no-contact drop-off the following business day between 9:00 am and 12:00 noon.

Bidwell Riverside Center offers a toy pantry during the holiday season. A parent/guardian may choose 1 toy for each child signed-up. Must pre-register.

Services:

Eligibility:

Families with children ages 18 and younger. No income or area restrictions. Must have received a meal package from Bidwell in November or December 2021.

Intake Process:

Sign-up starts December 1st at the Bidwell Food Pantry during normal pantry hours (Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.). Choose a time to shop the Toy Pantry upon signing up. Bring photo identification for the adult who picks up toys. Toys will be available on a first come, first served basis. Families can utilize the Toy Pantry as well as Toys for Tots.
