The FaDSS (Family Development and Self-Sufficiency) Program is a supportive service to assist Family Investment Program (FIP) families with significant or multiple barriers to reach self-sufficiency. FaDSS partners with PROMISE JOBS, an employment and training program for families receiving cash assistance through FIP. FaDSS provides services that promote, empower, and nurture families towards economic and emotional self-sufficiency.

Eligibility:
Families who receive FIP benefits and have significant barriers to self-sufficiency are eligible for service.
Intake Process:
Referral to FaDSS is made through the Department of Human Services, PROMISE JOBS Program, other third-party sources, and self-referrals.

Program: Family Foster Care
As a member agency of Iowa KidsNet, Four Oaks provides the Family Foster Care program for children ages 0-18 and their families while children are temporarily placed in family foster care.

Behavioral Health Intervention Services(BHIS) are supportive, directive and teaching interventions provided in a community-based or residential group care environment designed to improve the individual’s level of functioning (child and adult) as it relates to a mental illness, with a primary goal of assisting the individual and his or her family to learn age-appropriate skills to manage their behavior, and regain or retain self-control. Four Oaks Outpatient Behavioral Health Services provide outpatient individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children and their families who are eligible under Title 19 or private insurance. In Cedar Rapids and Vinton, these services are provided as Abbe Oaks in partnership with the Community Mental Health Center.

Eligibility:
BHIS serves individuals, aged 20 or under, with Title XIX benefits through Medicaid. To participate in BHIS, an individual must secure a clinical diagnostic assessment with a licensed practitioner.

The Four Oaks Parents as Teachers program is a free, voluntary, family education and support program designed to provide practical, timely information on child development to families. It provides information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.
