Program: Audiology Services
Heartland AEA audiologists and audiometrists provide hearing screenings for infants, young children and K-5 students in schools, all at no cost to parents.
Hearing screenings and hearing tests help to determine those children with normal hearing, those who may need further testing to determine hearing status and those with hearing loss. Early detection of hearing loss can ensure that appropriate services and supports are put in place to meet the unique needs of the child.
Heartland AEA audiometrists perform yearly hearing screenings in:
Accredited public preschools
Head Starts
Public and non-public schools for students in elementary grades
As needed if there are concerns about a child’s hearing. Please reach out to your school’s nurse to connect with the audiologist assigned to your child’s district or school.
Contact your child’s school to learn when screenings are scheduled. If your child does not attend a public preschool and/or you believe your child requires a hearing screening, call the number above to discuss your concerns.

Program: Early ACCESS
Early ACCESS is an early intervention system of services provided to families. Services provide support and resources to help assist families enhance children’s development through everyday learning environments. Common areas are talking, moving, seeing, listening, thinking, eating, or playing. Every child is eligible for an evaluation. The evaluation will determine eligibility for further services.

Early Childhood Services provides support and resources to help assist families enhance children’s development through everyday learning environments. Common areas are talking, moving, seeing, listening, thinking, eating, or playing. In addition, a team of professionals with expertise in early childhood special education provide interventions to support children with special health, behavioral, or developmental needs.
Early Childhood Services also provide training and work directly with early childhood providers in community settings such as preschool, child care, and Head Start programs.

Program: Iowa Family and Educator Partnership
The program provides parents and educators with opportunities to work together in positive ways to improve educational programs for children with special needs. The staff provide support and information to families individually and through parent workshops and support groups.
Services:
- Family training and support
- Facilitate links between families, schools, and community agencies.
- Education on parent/student rights and responsibilities
- Publish newsletters
- Library to loan books, pamphlets, and video and audiotapes on Special Education
- Support for managing challenging behaviors at home.
Eligibility:
Families with children who have a disability, age birth through 21, educators, and other individuals who work with people with disabilities.
