New Connections
New Connections provides integrated substance abuse and mental health treatment for body, mind and community. New Connections employs a nationally recognized, evidence-based, interactive curriculum to help individuals discover their strengths, gain confidence, and learn skills to help individuals overcome their dependence on alcohol or other drugs. The goal at New Connections is to help individuals create better quality of life through integrated treatment focused on stopping the abuse or dependence of alcohol and other substances.

Medication Assisted Treatment
Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) is the use of medication, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a whole-patient approach to the treatment of substance use disorders. MAT is clinically driven with a focus on individualized patient care. In the United States, MAT has been shown to be a particularly effective treatment approach for alcohol dependence and opioid dependence.

The Crisis Observation Center (COC) is open to clients 18 years of age or older who are experiencing psychiatric/psychological stress which does not require hospitalization. The COC provides a safe, calm environment where individuals can meet with a nurse and therapist, and if needed, receive assistance setting up mental health appointments and services. The COC staff may also coordinate an assessment by a mental health medication provider, if appropriate. COC Clients must be able to maintain safe behaviors while at the COC, be able to provide their own basic hygiene, be medically stable, and willing to work with staff on intake and discharge planning.

The Broadlawns Crisis Team provides comprehensive emergency mental health services including assessment, triage, crisis intervention, and discharge planning. Services are available by phone or in person through the Broadlawns Emergency Department.

In addition to being the initial contact to the Inpatient Psychiatric Unit, the crisis team assists clients in finding the programs and services that are the most appropriate for their needs.

Broadlawns provides access to interpreters at no cost for patients, family members or health care providers. This includes more than 200 languages, American Sign Language (ASL), and vision and hearing-impaired services and assistance 24 hours a day, seven days a week, on-site or by telephone.

The Broadlawns Psychiatric Urgent Care accepts walk-in appointments for individuals 18 years of age or older who are experiencing a mental health crisis. The psychiatric Urgent Care is staffed with psychiatric nurse practitioners, licensed therapists, nursing staff, service coordinators, and psychiatric technicians.

Birthright provides caring, non-judgmental support to girls and women who are distressed by an unplanned pregnancy. Using its own resources and those of the community, Birthright offers positive and loving alternatives. Birthright presents many services and refers for many more. We provide friendship and emotional support, free pregnancy testing, and maternity and baby clothes. We also give information and referrals to help clients meet legal, medical, financial, and housing needs. Birthright treats each woman as an individual who deserves kindness and respect, as well as personal attention to her unique situation. All Birthright services are free, absolutely confidential, and available to any woman regardless of age, race, creed, economic or marital status.

Breastfeeding education and support in a group setting. Participants meet with other breastfeeding individuals. Participants share experiences in a safe and supportive environment. Scales will be available for participants to weigh the baby and a lactation specialist will be available to answer questions. Siblings are welcome.
