ASK Resource Center (ASK) is a statewide, nonprofit organization that provides information, resources, training, and one-on-one guidance and support for families of individuals with disabilities up to age 26. ASK assists families in navigating issues related to special education, health care financing, home and community based supports, and legal rights for families of children and young adults with disabilities.

The Families of Iowa Network for Disabilities grant has been developed to create a database and directory accessible to family members, educators, and service providers of children with disabilities. Families will be able to FIND other families who share similar experiences and interests, and access information to expand their knowledge and leadership abilities.

Families will be able to:
- Find other families who share similar experiences and interests
- Access information and expand their knowledge about their child’s disability or a related interest
- Have access to workshops and trainings to acquire skills to become effective advocates and to enhance their qualities as leaders in the disability community
- Find support groups and other disability organizations
- Be a member of a ListServe/Message Board to ask questions, share ideas, information, and resources
- Link to other disability related events, calendars, conferences, and workshops
- Actively participate in public policy through a variety of opportunities

The Learning Disabilities Association of Iowa is dedicated to identifying causes and promoting prevention of learning disabilities and to enhancing the quality of life for all individuals with learning disabilities and their families by:

Parent Training and Information Center of Iowa (PTI) is a federally funded grant project from the U.S. Department of Education that focuses on the educational needs of children with disabilities in Iowa, particularly those who are underserved or may be inappropriately identified.
In addition to technical assistance to families, PTI also provides training on the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The goal is to help parents better understand the Individual Education Program (IEP) and Individual Family Support Program (IFSP) process and become better advocates for their children.

ASK’s Postsecondary Transition Training Project is designed help families understand the importance of setting high expectations and to give them the knowledge and skills they need to achieve positive outcomes for their kids. This project is funded by the Iowa Department of Education. Through it, ASK collaborates with many existing networks to ensure postsecondary transition training and information for families is provided equitably statewide. Currently, the project utilizes four workshops on topics including having high expectations, understanding the basics of transition planning in school, planning for work after high school and planning for education after high school.
