Program: Metro Home Improvement Program
The Metro Home Improvement Program is a collaborative effort of eight metro cities with the purpose to preserve affordable housing in these communities. Assistance is for housing repairs and correcting code violations. The awards are in the form of a five-year forgivable loan to eligible households. The Metro Home Improvement Program is administered by the City of West Des Moines. The program is funded through the participating cities and the Polk County Housing Trust Fund.

Eligibility:
- The property must be located within one of the following cities within Polk County:
- Ankeny
- Altoona
- Bondurant
- Grimes
- Polk City
- Urbandale
- West Des Moines
- Windsor Heights
- The property must be owner occupied
- The assessed value of the property must be at or below $200, 000
- Income limits of the household must fall at or below 80% of the median family income
- The property must be one of the following: single family residence, condominium, or townhouse
- The property must be the homeowners primary residence
- Property taxes and/ or mortgage payments must be current and paid-to-date
