Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a federal income supplement program. It is designed to help individuals who are aged, blind, or disabled and who have little or no income. It provides funds to meet basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.

Eligibility:
A person who is blind, or disabled, or aged 65 or older. Children ages 18 or younger may receive SSI if they have a qualifying physical or mental disability. The person must be a U.S. citizen and have limited income and resources.
