IMPACT Resource Centers located in counties where IMPACT does not have a food pantry (Jasper, Marion, and Warren) offer limited access to food vouchers for local grocery stores.

IMPACT Community Action Partnership provides a number of programs designed to help families stay warm in the winter, cool in the summer, and maintain access to water. Clients can receive a one-time payment for a utility bill if income guidelines are met. IMPACT will help clients apply for the benefit through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Applications for the LIHEAP program are accepted November 1st – April 30th.

IMPACT also partners with Polk County Public Works and Mid-Iowa Community Action to provide Weatherization services to all of their service counties.
Weatherization is a program established to help reduce the heating and cooling costs for low-income persons, particularly the elderly, disabled, and children, by improving the energy efficiency of their homes, thereby reducing the household's energy bills.

Intake Process:

Apply for energy assistance by the following methods:’

  • Phone appointment: Call your local IMPACT office or reach out to IMPACT staff on the chat on the website to schedule a phone appointment for Energy Assistance.
  • Mail-In Application: Clients can download an application, print it out, and mail it back to IMPACT with copies of your documentation. You can mail your application to: IMPACT Community Action Partnership 3226 University Avenue Des Moines, IA 50311 Attn: Energy Team.
  • Apply for weatherization by phone.

IMPACT partners with the City of Norwalk to provide financial assistance to households with a termination notice or past-due balance on their water utilities. Eligible applicants can receive up to $200 per year through this program. Funding availability varies.

Services:

Eligibility:

Resident of Norwalk with a household income at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Intake Process:

To apply for the program, please call 515-518-4770.

Documentation required:
-Identification for all household members
-Proof of the last 30 days of income or previous year's income
-Termination notice or past-due balance on City of Norwalk Water services
