Behavioral Health Intervention Services(BHIS) are supportive, directive and teaching interventions provided in a community-based or residential group care environment designed to improve the individual’s level of functioning (child and adult) as it relates to a mental illness, with a primary goal of assisting the individual and his or her family to learn age-appropriate skills to manage their behavior, and regain or retain self-control. Four Oaks Outpatient Behavioral Health Services provide outpatient individual, family, and group psychotherapy to children and their families who are eligible under Title 19 or private insurance. In Cedar Rapids and Vinton, these services are provided as Abbe Oaks in partnership with the Community Mental Health Center.
