The purpose of the Regional Genetics Consultation service is to provide genetic health care services and education for patients and families within the state of Iowa through statewide outreach services; in order to promote health, prevent disease, reduce the incidence of congenital disorders and improve outcomes for those with birth defects and genetic disorders.

Eligibility:
Clinic should be contacted to obtain description of exact eligibility requirements. In general, following documentation is needed: medical records from current doctors, records of related imaging studies, and records of laboratory studies.
Intake Process:
Clinic needs to be contacted first. Representative will inform caller of documentation requirements and provide information about service being requested.

The primary purpose of the Regional Genetics Consultation Services is to provide this structure as an integral component of the state’s health-care system. The secondary purpose is to assure the provision of statewide genetics education to promote health and prevent disease.
