Innovative grief support services that promote hope and healing to individuals, children, and families. Ranging from dinner club gatherings for young adults, to opportunities to attend local events, Amanda the Panda engages participants in activities that promote socialization and help individuals, children, and families rebuild after the death of a loved one.
Program: Amanda the Panda Support Groups
Support groups are held seasonally, four times per year, for six consecutive Monday evenings. Each support group starts with supper, and everyone then divides into smaller peer groups based on age, where they do a variety of age-appropriate activities to facilitate discussion sharing.
Together, we work to:
- recognize how grief affects our minds and our bodies
- identify and accept grief emotions like anger and guilt
- learn healthy coping skills
- create rituals to honor our loved ones who have died
Support Groups will differ from one to the next, utilizing varied activities, with the goal of providing participants with a range of opportunities to process their grief.
Children (Kindergarten and above), teens, and adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. Childcare is available for younger children upon request.
All grief support programs are provided free of charge. Amanda the Panda requires a refundable deposit of $35 per person up to $100 maximum per family. The deposit needs to be mailed or dropped off to the office before registration will be finalized. If you have a financial hardship that would prevent you from registering for Amanda the Panda services, please contact the office at 515.223.4847 to discuss other options for finalizing your enrollment.
