HOPES-HFI is a home visiting program and serves families with young children. The program goals are to promote child health and development, improve family relationships, and encourage positive parenting and family relationships.

Services:

  • Prenatal education and delivery preparation
  • Newborn, toddler and child health and development information and referrals
  • School readiness and social skills
  • Whole family development and goal setting
  • Classes and social events that educate parents and promote interaction among children

Eligibility:

  • This program serves parents from pregnancy up until their child is 5 years old
  • This program is for families experiencing barriers in raising a healthy family
  • Families must reside in Black Hawk County

Healthy Opportunities for Parents to Experience Success – Healthy Families Iowa (HOPES-HFI) follows the national Healthy Families America evidence-based program model. HOPES-HFI is a home visiting program and serves families with young children. The program goals are to promote child health and development, improve family relationships, and encourage positive parenting and family relationships.

Services:

  • Advocacy and linking families to appropriate community services.
  • Teach, demonstrate, and coach parents on how to care for their child.
  • Cultivate and strengthen nurturing parent-child relationships.
  • Teach and model appropriate parent behavior and methods of discipline.
  • Provide prenatal information and support.

Eligibility:

Families must enroll while pregnant or at the birth of their child.  Parents of children birth through age 3-5.
