NISSA African Family Services seeks to end domestic
violence and sexual assault in African Immigrants and Refugee communities. NISAA
functions as a resource advocate and support for the African communities in Iowa
affected by domestic violence and sexual assault by providing crisis advocacy,
individual and group counseling, legal advocacy, housing and employment assistance,
and many other direct support services.

- Employers, and educational institutions; criminal justice,
- Legal advocacy,
- Court accompaniment,
- Immigration assistance,
- VAWA or U-Visa applications,
- Medical care support and advocacy,
- Help with housing,
- Finding employment,
- Government benefit applications,
- Help in finding childcare,
- Assistance with victim’s compensation application, and notification.
- Follow-ups and support services.
