Program: Single Parent Provision
Single Parent Provision (SPP) is a non-profit organization working to strengthen the lives of single parents and their families. The majority of their staff and board is a current single parent, former single parent, or was raised in a single parent home.
Through Break Time, single parents have frequent opportunities to bring their child(ren) to a safe, fun, and developmentally-appropriate program led by caring adults. This free service allows single parents to enjoy several hours of uninterrupted time (support) for running errands, studying, or simply having some alone time. In addition, SPP provides classes for single parents or children of single parents throughout the year. Support groups for moms and dads are offered throughout central Iowa. SPP also offers workshops for single parents. Workshops are typically ‘how-to’ types of subjects that can be covered in a one to two hour span. Workshops are held throughout the year on an ad-hoc basis and cover topics such as: Home and auto maintenance, meal planning, budget shopping, estate & will planning, and many others. SPP hosts many other events throughout the year for single parents.
