Behavioral Health Consultation is a Behavioral Health Integration Program. It consists of a care team of a primary care provider (PCP), the license practical nurse (LPN) or certified medical assistant (CMA), and a licensed behavioral health consultant (BHC).
The PCP determines the psychosocial factors underlying the patient’s presenting complaint are adversely impacting their response to treatment. The BHC provides brief, real time assessments and interventions, within the primary care setting, to address the psychosocial factors, and the CMA or LPN work closely with both the PCP and BHC so that the patient’s needs are identified.
